Sooners, you are strange to me.
You wear different colors than I do.
You have different cheers.
You have different songs and music,
You have different traditions.
You do not break bread with me.
Your faces are not familiar to me.
When I am surrounded by you, I do not feel that I am among my brothers.
Your stadium is unwelcoming to me. It is a dark, unfamiliar place.
You do not cheer when I cheer, applaud when I applaud, smile when I smile.
My loss brings you happiness.
My victory brings you no joy.
You share secret conversations that I am not privy to.
I do not feel like we are brothers.
You do not flash my hand sign.
Your food is different from mine.
Your land is unfamiliar to me. It is dark, colder than mine, with strange plants and trees.
You consider me to be your enemy.
You speak words against me.
But come October,
for one afternoon
we will share something only we can share.
And that no one else can understand.
You wear different colors than I do.
You have different cheers.
You have different songs and music,
You have different traditions.
You do not break bread with me.
Your faces are not familiar to me.
When I am surrounded by you, I do not feel that I am among my brothers.
